Dancing, competition, acupuncture and a hot spring soak!

Today was a very eventful and exciting day! After meeting in the library, we started off the day by going to 2 classes. In the first class I attended, we were welcomed with a funny dance to "Can't Touch This". Then we played a game of musical chairs and charades. In the second class I attended, Nick and I were asked to sit in the front of the classroom and try all different kinds of Taiwanese foods. We tried everything that we were offered including golden berries, green bean cookies, and other fruits and snacks that are popular in Taiwan. We also learned a variety of Taiwanese games. After that we were taken outside to learn different ways to throw a frisbee, and play a friendly game of volleyball. The students really like taking pictures with all of us so in most of the classes they leave time for everyone to take selfies with each of us at the end of the period. We also learned about Chinese herbal medicine practices today. A Chinese doctor taught us the uses or herbal medicines and passed around items that ranged from cinnamon to dead bugs. He also demonstrated acupuncture and cupping. After that we went to the hot springs to relax. One take away from today's events was the difference in culture between America and Taiwan. Whether it be medicinal practices or snacks, the difference between the culture in the U.S. and Taiwan is very noticeable, which provides us with a great learning experience and helps us develop new and valuable skills.
